What are student work placements?
Student work placements are when the student work with a host employer as part of a high-school, university or TAFE course. These placements are also called vocational placements, unpaid internships, or unpaid work experience.
Work placements are typically unpaid. This type of work placement is designed to give you workplace experience. It’s a chance for the student to apply the theory they have learned during their course to a professional setting.
Work placement can be volunteered: under the Fair Work Act 2009 work placements are lawfully unpaid.
